　　Sheng Zhijun, the mathematics teacher, at the city’s Yudafu Middle School, leaned over and kissed the his desk after finishing his last lesson before retirement.

　　A total of 47 students in his class missed the touching scene as they had gone for lunch. But a passing PE teacher managed to capture the poignant moment.

　　Sheng had been a teacher for more than 40 years. He was awarded special-grade teacher status at provincial level in 2006 and was also crowned with a senior title among the city’s 25 teachers, the province’s first batch.

　　Sheng voluntarily taught his class until the end of this semester, although he was scheduled to retire on June 1.

　　The veteran teacher revealed he would now be using his experience to train faculties at a village school in Tonglu County after retirement, instead of accepting high-paying offers at training agencies.
